About the brand
Penfold is one of the oldest names in British golf. Albert Penfold designed the Maxfli ball at Dunlop, then left in 1927 to set up on his own in Birmingham. His balls were famous enough that James Bond plays a Penfold in Goldfinger.
The name faded after a run of ownership changes. In 2020 Gavin Perrett, a British expat living in Pennsylvania who'd emailed the owner years earlier asking about it, started bringing it back from his attic, under licence from the English company that holds the name.
The new Penfold is mostly bags and accessories in British Millerain waxed canvas and leather, timed towards the brand's hundredth birthday in 2027.
