The halfway Hoose
A halfway house is where you stop for a bacon roll between the ninth and the tenth. This is meant to be the same thing for golf brands worth knowing: somewhere to pause, look around, and find something good, beyond the same three names on every pro shop wall.
There have never been more good independent golf brands, and there has never been less written about the people running them. Golf media covers tour players and £600 drivers. Nobody covers the person cutting the leather, packing the orders, or deciding a headcover should be made one at a time. That's the gap this fills.
I'm Ross. I built this, I choose what goes in it, and I'm working through the list one brand at a time — reading what they've written about themselves, and increasingly speaking to them directly. Anything I write about a brand either comes from their own words in public or from them telling me themselves, and I'll always make clear which.
Everything here earns its place on design, craft or point of view. It's added by hand, one at a time, which is slower than it sounds and is rather the point.
Nobody pays to be listed and the order isn't for sale. If I ever add affiliate links I'll say so on the page it happens on, and it won't change who's here or what I write about them.
